Veronica Munera, M.D., is a Board Certified Internist with a special interest in preventative medicine, cancer screening and women health. Dr. Munera was born in Medellin, Colombia and she speaks fluent Spanish. After graduating from Medical School in 2001, Dr. Munera worked as a General Medical Practitioner, in her home country. In 2006, Dr. Munera joined the University of Pittsburgh as a Postdoctoral Associate working in research for Anti-Oxidative Nutrition. She later received her Internal Medicine Residency training in New York, from North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System and Mount Sinai Medical School.
Dr. Munera is passionate about discovering the best way to help her patients, by keeping herself updated through attending various medical conferences and courses. Concerned about the obesity epidemic in the United States, Dr. Munera works hard in helping her overweight patients achieve their weight loss goals, as well as treating the associated conditions like hypertension, dyslipidemia and diabetes. She will be soon starting comprehensive programs for weight loss and anti-aging, utilizing state of the art techniques.
Dr. Munera was inspired by her Aunt who was a Physician. As a child she had the opportunity to watch her aunt practice medicine and help her patients. Dr. Munera’s career goal was clear to her at a young age; she wanted to become a Physician to have the knowledge to help people.
